Sony has re-entered the turntable market, announcing two new Bluetooth-enabled record players after a seven-year absence. The PS-LX3BT, available for pre-order at $399.99, and the PS-LX5BT, set to launch this spring for $499.99, mark Sony's renewed commitment to audio hardware. These successors to the popular PS-LX310BT feature upgraded technology, including support for Bluetooth codecs such as aptX and aptX-Adaptive, ensuring better sound quality over wireless connections.
Both new turntables support 33⅓ and 45 RPM records and include built-in phono preamps, allowing direct connection to speakers. The PS-LX5BT distinguishes itself with a Moving Magnet cartridge, more precise stylus pressure, and a gold-plated audio jack, catering to audiophiles. The PS-LX3BT is positioned as a beginner-friendly option. These models retain the fully automatic, belt-drive functionality of their predecessor, appealing to users who prefer a simplified vinyl listening experience with modern wireless capabilities.
