Sonos appears poised to enter the wireless headphone market again with a new model, the Ace Ultra, as indicated by recent FCC filings. This potential release follows the company's recent launch of a new Bluetooth speaker and suggests ongoing hardware innovation.
The filings reveal hints of advanced features for the Ace Ultra, including support for voice commands, a notable addition compared to previous models. This move aligns with Sonos's growing interest in artificial intelligence and expanding its smart home ecosystem.
Connectivity options may extend beyond Bluetooth to include Wi-Fi, potentially enabling features similar to the previous Ace headphones' TV Audio Swap. The Ace Ultra is also expected to be available in multiple color options, expanding choices beyond the typical black and white.
Sonos has been actively integrating smart home controls and voice assistance, with recent expansions of Sonos Voice Control and partnerships with Amazon Alexa. The company aims for the Ace Ultra to avoid the commercial underperformance of its predecessor.
Industry watchers anticipate a potential launch event in September, where Sonos CEO Tom Conrad has indicated an upcoming announcement. This event could officially unveil the Ace Ultra and its capabilities to the public.
