Snapchat Glasses: Record Life On The Fly
18 Jul
Summary
- Spectacles offer spontaneous, in-the-moment capture of life's moments.
- The camera quality doesn't rival high-end phones, focusing on sharing.
- Circular video format in Snapchat allows interactive viewing experiences.
Snapchat Spectacles, available in black, teal, and coral, offer a unique approach to capturing and sharing moments. These lightweight plastic glasses house their electronics within the temples, maintaining a familiar sunglasses aesthetic.
Operating Spectacles is streamlined: a single button initiates 10-second video recordings, extendable up to 30 seconds. While pairing with smartphones is designed to be effortless, syncing videos via Bluetooth can be slow. Wi-Fi syncing for HD clips requires a manual switch to a Spectacles-generated hotspot.
Despite camera quality not matching high-end phones, Spectacles excel at spontaneous, eye-level capture. The 115-degree lens and circular video format in Snapchat provide an immersive viewing experience, allowing users to explore captured moments interactively.
Snap, Inc.'s first hardware endeavor, Spectacles, demonstrates thoughtful design, from the charging case to the magnetic cable. Priced at $129.95, their success hinges on user adoption and embracing the fun, frictionless creation they enable.
