Simple, an EV startup, has unveiled its new family scooter, the Wave, with deliveries commencing on September 25. This new model offers up to a 243km IDC range, positioning it as a mass-market competitor. The Wave distinguishes itself with a 70L underseat storage capacity and the longest scooter seat in India at 920mm.
The scooter is built on a different platform than Simple's One range, featuring twin rear shock absorbers and a sleeker design. It retains the 7-inch TFT instrument cluster and offers front apron cubby storage. The base variant has a 2.2kWh battery and 110km range, while the top-tier Wave+ variant uses a 5kWh battery for the maximum claimed 243km range.
Compared to the One series, the Wave swaps rear disc brakes for a more cost-effective rear drum brake but retains the Combined Braking System (CBS). Traction control is available on higher variants. Priced from Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the Simple Wave directly competes with Ather, Chetak, Vida, and TVS iQube, leveraging its superior range as a key advantage.
