Tiny Sigma FP2 Packs Full-Frame Power, But At A Price
23 Oct
Summary
- Sigma FP2 is the world's smallest full-frame mirrorless camera.
- It features a 24.5MP sensor with 6K open gate video recording.
- The camera's compact design may require costly optional accessories.

Sigma has launched the FP2, further miniaturizing its full-frame mirrorless camera line. This new model features a 24.5MP sensor, similar to those found in some Nikon and Lumix cameras, and records 6K open gate video with Sigma's L-Log profile. It also includes 70GB of internal memory and an upgraded battery, enhancing usability despite its compact dimensions.
The FP2 improves autofocus performance with a hybrid phase detection system offering a 15% speed and accuracy boost. However, the camera's ultra-compact design means it lacks in-body image stabilization and an integrated viewfinder. While an optional, high-resolution electronic viewfinder is available, its additional cost, along with other accessories, increases the overall investment.
Announced on October 23, 2026, with a starting price of $2,199 / £1,899, the Sigma FP2 goes on sale November 11. The camera's modular design allows users to add accessories like the EVF-21, though these can significantly increase the final cost, creating a 'miniaturization premium' for the system.
