Sennheiser Momentum 5: Replaceable battery, epic sound!

Sennheiser has launched its latest Momentum 5 Bluetooth noise-cancelling headphones, building upon their reputation for superior audio quality. These headphones offer exceptional comfort, advanced connectivity options, and a significant 57-hour battery life with active noise cancellation engaged. A key feature is the user-replaceable battery, designed to maintain at least 80% of its capacity after 25,000 hours of listening.

The Momentum 5s incorporate Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint connectivity, supporting advanced audio codecs like aptX Adaptive and Lossless for high-fidelity streaming. While the noise-cancelling is improved over previous models, it does not quite match top competitors like Sony and Bose. The design remains similar to the outgoing model, prioritizing comfort with plush earcups and a well-padded headband. Users can customize sound profiles via the Smart Control Plus app, which also includes a Dolby Atmos mode for enhanced immersion.

Priced at £330, the Momentum 5 headphones compete in a crowded market. Despite their strengths in sound, comfort, and battery longevity, they do not fold as compactly as some rivals, potentially posing a challenge for travel. The absence of water resistance and occasional hit-or-miss performance with Dolby Atmos head-tracking are noted drawbacks. However, their overall package makes them a strong contender for those prioritizing sound quality and user-serviceable design.
