Segway Adds Radar Safety to New Myon E-Bike

Segway, a brand known for its innovative personal transportation devices, is set to release its third electric bicycle model, the Myon. This new e-bike is designed to appeal to a broad range of riders, from beginners to experienced cyclists, offering a more traditional bicycle appearance compared to its existing Xyber and Xafari models. The Myon is positioned as an ideal choice for both daily commutes and recreational weekend rides, blending Segway's original innovations with automotive-inspired features for an improved riding experience.

A standout feature of the Myon is its optional rear-facing millimeter wave radar. This technology, inspired by advancements in the automotive sector, aims to significantly enhance rider safety by providing alerts for approaching vehicles. The radar system offers a 150-degree field of view and can detect vehicles up to 230 feet away, providing crucial information about blind spots, lane changes, and potential rear collisions without requiring the rider to divert their attention from the road.

The Myon e-bike, along with pricing details for the bike and its radar upgrade, is slated for a January 6th release. Before its official launch, Segway plans to present the Myon at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. While rear-facing radar is becoming more common in the e-bike market, Segway's inclusion of this feature, especially as a paid upgrade, signifies a commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into their accessible product line.
