A terrifying incident involving a Samsung Galaxy Ring has highlighted potential safety concerns for wearable technology users. Tech YouTuber Daniel Rotar shared that his smart ring's battery swelled significantly, necessitating immediate hospitalization for its removal. The ordeal occurred as Rotar was about to board a flight, leading to him being denied passage and rushed to the hospital.

Four months after the event, Rotar revealed Samsung's conclusion: a cracked internal molding was the cause. While Samsung asserted that no broader battery safety risk exists for the product, this explanation was met with skepticism online, with many users finding it unconvincing. The company stated that both its own investigation and an independent agency confirmed the cause.

This incident brings to mind past issues with Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy Note 7, which faced recalls due to exploding batteries. However, there is no indication that Samsung Ring batteries pose a similar risk. Rotar previously stated he suffered no lasting complications, but notes that untreated swelling from a stuck ring can restrict blood flow and damage nerves.
