10 Oct
Summary
- One UI 9, based on Android 17, is now rolling out to recent flagship Galaxy devices.
- Some new AI features are more practical than past gimmicky offerings.
- The Now Nudge feature proved disappointing in practical, real-world testing.
Samsung has begun a broad rollout of its One UI 9 interface, which is built upon the new Android 17 operating system. This update specifically targets recent flagship Galaxy devices and arrived in August. Early assessments suggest a welcome departure from overly gimmicky AI features often seen in recent smartphone releases.
While some advertised features, like the contextual Now Nudge, have underperformed expectations in testing, other, more understated additions to One UI 9 have proven to be quite beneficial for users. The interface aims to provide a more grounded and useful experience with its latest iteration.
