Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide: Camera downgrade looms
14 May
Summary
- The Fold 8 Wide may feature a 50MP main camera.
- This is significantly less than the likely 200MP on the standard Fold 8.
- The Fold 8 Wide is expected to have a 4,800mAh battery.
Recent leaks indicate that the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may feature a considerably weaker camera system compared to the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. While the standard model is expected to sport a 200MP main camera, the Wide variant is reportedly limited to a 50MP sensor for its primary wide lens. This would place its photographic prowess below that of the Z Fold 8.
However, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide might offer an improved battery life, with reports suggesting a 4,800mAh capacity. This would be an increase from the 4,400mAh battery found in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. The device is also rumored to include a 50MP ultra-wide camera, potentially matching the standard Z Fold 8 and improving upon the Z Fold 7's 12MP sensor.
These specifications have reportedly disappointed potential buyers, with some expressing concerns about the device's value proposition. The expected launch window for these new foldable phones is July. This timeframe will likely bring clarity to the accuracy of these camera and battery rumors.
