Samsung's new Galaxy Watch 9, released on Wednesday at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London, offers a suite of meaningful improvements despite minimal design changes from its predecessor.
The device is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, a significant upgrade that enhances processing speed and real-time data feedback. This new processor, coupled with larger batteries (390-mAh and 445-mAh for the 40-mm and 44-mm models, respectively), aims to provide 30-40 hours of runtime.
Innovations extend to its AI and fitness capabilities. The Watch 9 introduces a free Fitness Index feature that assesses overall health and provides customized training plans. AI enhancements include an intuitive, hands-free activation for Gemini by simply speaking towards the watch.
The Galaxy Watch 9 is available for preorder immediately and goes on general sale on August 7. The 40-mm Bluetooth version starts at $380, with the LTE model beginning at $430.
