Samsung S21 Support Ends: Time to Upgrade?
5 Feb
Summary
- Samsung has ended software updates for the Galaxy S21 series.
- The Galaxy S21 FE will continue receiving updates.
- Future Samsung flagships will offer longer support periods.

As of February 5, 2026, Samsung has concluded its software update commitment for the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra smartphones. This marks the end of an era for these popular devices, with continued use potentially exposing users to security vulnerabilities. The company confirmed this by removing them from its official security update list, a move aligned with the devices' initial four-year support window.
An exception exists for the Galaxy S21 FE, which launched later and will continue to receive updates. Looking ahead, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are also expected to reach the end of their support lifespans later in 2026. Samsung is also extending update commitments for newer series, with the S24 and S25 models slated for up to seven years of Android upgrades, suggesting support through to Android 21 and 22 respectively.
