15 May
Summary
- Samsung is launching new smart glasses, the Galaxy Glasses, soon.
- These glasses integrate Gemini AI to analyze wearer's vision.
- They offer real-time translation, augmented reality, and home device control.

Samsung is gearing up to unveil its inaugural smart glasses, tentatively named Galaxy Glasses, at an event scheduled for July 22 in London. These new spectacles are expected to debut alongside other Samsung devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Watch 9. The glasses will operate on Android XR, a system co-developed by Samsung and Google, which powers extended reality experiences.
Integration with Google's Gemini AI is a key feature, enabling the glasses to analyze real-time video captured by the wearer's perspective. This analysis can provide contextual information, such as facts about historical sites or navigation assistance in new cities. Users will also be able to make calls, take photos, send messages, and perform real-time language translations through voice commands or gestures.
The Galaxy Glasses are designed to seamlessly connect with Samsung's ecosystem of AI-enabled devices, including smartphones and SmartThings home appliances. This connectivity could allow users to manage smart home functions, like adjusting an oven or dryer, directly through the glasses. Furthermore, integration with Samsung's Car-to-Home service, available in select Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles, may enable drivers to control smart home devices from their cars using the glasses. The company aims to match the projected 35% annual growth of the global augmented reality market.
