Russia May Lift Roblox Ban After Safety Assurances

Russia's digital ministry has initiated steps to potentially lift the ban on the popular U.S. gaming platform, Roblox. This development follows assurances from Roblox regarding their commitment to the Russian market, specifically concerning the safety of young users.

The ministry, in conjunction with the communications watchdog Roskomnadzor, has appealed to law enforcement authorities to support the removal of restrictions. These assurances include implementing age-based access controls for various games and introducing additional measures to prevent the dissemination of harmful content on the platform.

The Roblox platform was initially banned in Russia last December, with the official reason cited being child safety concerns. This move had not only irked some Russian users but also led to public expressions of discontent in cities like Tomsk. Roblox had previously indicated its willingness to adapt certain features to comply with Russian regulations.
