Royal Enfield is preparing to expand its adventure motorcycle lineup with the upcoming Himalayan 440, designed as a more accessible option. This model is anticipated to bring back the straightforward, robust character that defined the initial Royal Enfield Himalayan 411.
The Himalayan 440 is expected to fill the gap left by the transition to the more sophisticated Himalayan 450, appealing to riders seeking a less expensive, uncomplicated adventure tourer. It is projected to be priced between approximately Rs 2.20 lakh and Rs 2.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
Prioritizing utilitarian design, the 440 will likely forgo advanced features like ride modes and traction control, focusing instead on essentials such as switchable ABS and the Tripper navigation pod to maintain affordability and ease of maintenance.
Visually, it is expected to resemble the Himalayan 411 with its classic ADV stance, featuring a round headlamp and a tall front fender. The motorcycle will likely utilize the 443cc air/oil-cooled engine from the Scram 440, producing around 25 bhp and 34 Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The chassis will probably be derived from the Scram 440 but enhanced for off-road capability with longer suspension travel.
