Rostec Unveils AI-Powered Optoelectronics for Drones
29 Apr
Summary
- Rostec developed optoelectronic systems for drones, robots, and vessels.
- Neural networks enable automatic object recognition, reducing operator load.
- Seven models offer varied detection ranges and are gyrostabilized.

Russian tech corporation Rostec, through its subsidiary Rosel Holding, has developed an advanced line of optoelectronic systems. These systems are designed for deployment on unmanned aerial vehicles, ground-based robotic platforms, and surface robotic vessels.
The new equipment is capable of detecting both moving and stationary targets regardless of the time of day. A key innovation is the integration of neural network data processing algorithms in two specific models, enabling automatic object recognition directly on the device's built-in computer. This feature substantially reduces the workload for human operators.
The product line comprises seven distinct models, differentiated by weight, dimensions, and detection range. Each system operates on a gyrostabilized platform offering two-axis rotation for stable imaging even while the carrier is in motion.
These devices function within the visible spectrum, with select models also featuring infrared channels for enhanced monitoring in low-light conditions. The output is provided in a standard video format. The most compact systems are tailored for UAVs, medium-sized solutions for ground robots, and larger units for unmanned boats and warships.
Potential applications include traffic monitoring for law enforcement, forest surveillance, and fire detection, demonstrating the versatility of Rostec's new technology.
