Road Ministry Mandates NHAI and Developers to Launch YouTube Channels for Highway Projects

As of October 30th, 2025, the road transport ministry has taken a significant step to enhance transparency and public engagement in highway projects. The ministry has directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and highway developers to create their own YouTube channels and regularly upload videos of ongoing projects.
This first-of-its-kind initiative aims to leverage citizen feedback and insights to improve the construction process. According to the road transport secretary, V Umashankar, the ministry has observed that independent YouTubers often provide valuable information and updates about project progress and issues. The ministry now plans to make video uploads a mandatory part of the project contract documents.
