Rivian has rolled out a significant software update, version 2026.36, bringing a "Pet Cam" feature to R2 models. This allows users to monitor their pets inside the vehicle through their smartphone lock screen or the Rivian app. The feature utilizes the car's interior high-definition camera to provide a live stream or refreshed snapshots.
The update also enhances the "Pet Mode," which already offers climate control for pets left in the car. Owners can now activate and deactivate Pet Mode remotely via the Rivian app. To prevent accidental changes, a confirmation prompt will appear when toggling this feature on or off.
Furthermore, R2 vehicles are set to receive the Rivian Assistant. This AI-powered voice assistant, already present in R1 models, will assist with tasks related to navigation, entertainment, and climate control within the vehicle.
