Rivian electric vehicles are embracing the Halloween spirit with a new Ghostbusters-themed over-the-air update. Available now until November 2nd, this software transforms Rivian R1S, R1T, and R2 models into "ghost-hunting machines," complete with themed lights, sounds, and interactive graphics.
The update introduces a Ghostbusters app, allowing owners to sync their vehicle's interior and exterior lighting and audio to mimic the iconic Ecto-1. Owners can select various themes, and the vehicle can even trigger light and sound shows automatically for trick-or-treaters.
Inside, the displays adopt an Ecto-1 control panel look, featuring a version of the Ghostbusters theme song. The Rivian mobile and smartwatch apps also update, enabling remote siren and light activation. Hidden clues and animations add an interactive scavenger hunt element.
Adding to the festivities is Mallow Mash, an arcade game where players race against time to pop Stay Puft Marshmallow Men. Most features, including the game and scavenger hunt, are accessible only when the vehicle is parked. Rivian has also created physical Ecto-1 homage vehicles, displayed at select retail locations.
