- Watch Duty data will provide real-time wildfire alerts.
- Ring cameras can analyze recent video for fire signs.

Ring is enhancing its smart home security by integrating wildfire detection capabilities through a new partnership with the nonprofit app Watch Duty. This collaboration will introduce a dedicated Fire Watch section within the Neighbors app, providing users with real-time alerts and maps of local wildfires.
This new feature aims to leverage Watch Duty's extensive data to proactively inform Ring customers about emerging fire threats. For those with a Ring Protect subscription, their security cameras will also play a role by analyzing recent video footage for indicators like smoke or flames, triggering immediate alerts to users.
Participants will have the option to manually share visual evidence of fires from their Ring cameras, which could then be utilized by first responders. This feature is expected to roll out in the spring, offering homeowners in fire-prone areas an additional layer of safety and awareness, with users able to control their participation.
