- AI scans nearby cameras to locate missing pets quickly.

Ring's Search Party feature has expanded nationwide, offering a new AI-powered method to help locate lost dogs. Previously, only Ring device owners could access this tool, but now any individual in the U.S. can utilize the free Ring Neighbors app to post an alert for a missing pet. This enables dog owners to tap into a network of cameras without needing to purchase hardware or subscribe to a service.
The AI technology within Search Party scans recent footage from nearby outdoor Ring cameras when a lost dog is reported. If a potential match is identified, the camera owner receives an alert with a photo and video clip of the missing animal, allowing them to assist voluntarily. This initiative has already facilitated numerous successful reunions, with Ring reporting over one lost dog found per day on average.
Ring is also supporting animal shelters by committing $1 million to equip them with camera systems, aiming to expedite the reunification process for pets entering shelters. Despite initial privacy concerns, Ring emphasizes that participation and footage sharing remain optional, and the feature can be enabled or disabled at any time.
