20 Sep
Summary
- A new Duo Lite Plus model was announced after initial orders.
- The Plus model balances size with the powerful Dragonwing Q-7790.
- Retroid Pocket offers exchanges for upset Duo Lite customers.
Retroid Pocket has unveiled a new handheld device, the Duo Lite Plus, which is now available for preorder. This announcement comes just over a week after the company began accepting orders for its Duo and Duo Lite models earlier this month. The introduction of the Duo Lite Plus was attributed to customer feedback, though it has caused dissatisfaction among some early purchasers of the Duo Lite.
The Duo Lite Plus is positioned as a middle-ground option, featuring the compact design of the Duo Lite paired with the more potent Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-7790 processor, previously exclusive to the higher-priced Duo model. Preorder pricing for the Duo Lite Plus is set at $219, with an early bird discount reducing it to $199. Initial shipments are slated to commence in mid-November.
In response to customer concerns about the new release, Retroid Pocket has offered to pause Duo Lite shipments temporarily. The company is allowing existing Duo Lite customers to compare the devices and decide whether to keep their original order or switch to the Duo Lite Plus. Retroid Pocket will cover all shipping and exchange costs for affected buyers.
