Reddit's TikTok-Style Feeds Roll Out Globally
29 Oct
Summary
- New 'For You' and 'Following' tabs are now available worldwide.
- These feeds aim to enhance user discovery and content exploration.
- Changes follow Reddit's removal of RSS and Old Reddit access.

Reddit has begun a worldwide rollout of new content feeds designed to offer users novel ways to navigate its vast collection of posts. These new features, branded as 'For You' and 'Following' tabs, draw inspiration from the discovery mechanisms popularized by platforms like TikTok.
The 'For You' feed is engineered as a discovery engine, recommending posts from subreddits the user already follows, while also integrating content predicted to align with their inferred interests. Conversely, the 'Following' tab strictly curates posts exclusively from subreddits to which the user has subscribed, providing a more personalized content stream.
These updates emerge in the wake of user discontent over recent platform modifications, including the discontinuation of RSS feeds and restrictions on accessing the traditional desktop layout, often referred to as Old Reddit. The company asserts these changes are part of ongoing experiments to facilitate more deliberate exploration of Reddit's diverse content.
Further platform adjustments include the requirement for external applications to migrate to Reddit's official developer platform or face access termination. Reddit states it is assisting approximately 14,000 apps in this transition, citing a significant increase in AI-driven bot traffic as a primary reason for stricter policies.
