PS5 Pro Surges Ahead: Wi-Fi 7, 4K Boost
16 Mar
Summary
- PS5 Pro offers advanced ray tracing and AI upscaling for enhanced visuals.
- New console supports Wi-Fi 7 and boasts a larger 2TB SSD for storage.
- PS5 Pro omits a disc drive, increasing total cost for physical media users.

The PlayStation 5 Pro is now the most expensive console, priced at $749.99, reflecting a $50 increase due to tariffs. This positions it at least $200 above the standard PS5 models. The Pro version excels in ray tracing, simulating light for more realistic reflections and lighting, particularly in optimized titles.
It also introduces PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), an AI-enhanced resolution technology designed to boost games to 4K while maintaining high frame rates. Games specifically enhanced for the PS5 Pro will see improved performance and visual fidelity. However, this enhancement is limited to a select number of titles.
Connectivity sees an upgrade with Wi-Fi 7 support, surpassing the standard PS5's Wi-Fi 6. Storage is also significantly expanded with a 2TB SSD, double that of the PS5 Slim and nearly triple the original PS5's capacity. A key distinction is the PS5 Pro's lack of an optical disc drive, unlike the standard models, necessitating an extra $80 purchase for physical game support.
