Porsche is making a strong case for electric vehicles with its latest Cayenne Electric, particularly the Coupe model. The Cayenne Turbo Electric achieves an astonishing 1,156 horsepower with Launch Control, capable of 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 162mph. This powerhouse SUV features adaptive air suspension and optional Porsche Active Ride for remarkable body control.
The Cayenne Coupe Electric's design, inspired by the 911, enhances aerodynamics, extending range to 415 miles. Despite weighing around 2.5 tonnes, its handling is dynamically tuned with precise steering and performance modes. The vehicle offers immense practicality with up to 1,347 liters of storage and towing capacity up to 3.5 tonnes.
Technologically, the Cayenne Electric supports rapid 390kW DC charging, achieving an 80% charge in 16 minutes. It pioneers optional wireless induction charging at speeds up to 11kW. Inside, a 40-inch display dominates the dashboard with a fast, intuitive infotainment system, though some functions like vent adjustment are integrated into the screen.
Despite its impressive capabilities and performance, the Cayenne Electric's price remains a significant factor, with the Coupe Electric starting at £86,200 in the UK. Porsche also contends with industry-wide challenges regarding EV residual values, though the Cayenne Electric offers substantial automotive engineering for its cost.
