The company, founded in 2022 by Abhay Agarwal and Sam Young, pivoted from its initial focus on AI-generated 3D assets after observing the rapid growth of competitors in that space.

Recognizing a significant user need for better file organization, Poly shifted its strategy to address the challenges of finding information scattered across digital storage. The service now offers features like AI-powered search across various file types, summarization, translation, and automatic file organization, aiming to simplify users' digital workflows.

The startup has secured $8 million in seed funding, including a prior round, to support its new direction. Poly provides 100GB of free storage, significantly more than many competitors, and plans to introduce additional features such as web search and enhanced reporting capabilities in the future.
