6 Feb
Summary
- Polestar 4 redefines driving with a rear camera instead of a window.
- Real-world range of 255 miles falls short of its 280-mile EPA rating.
- Its 15.4-inch display offers intuitive software and a panoramic glass roof.

The 2026 Polestar 4, an all-electric luxury crossover, presents a unique driving experience by replacing the traditional rear window with a camera that feeds a digital rearview mirror. This "SUV coupe" design, starting at $56,400, features swift acceleration and responsive steering, powered by 544 hp dual motors.
During testing in cold weather, the Polestar 4 achieved an efficiency of 2.55 mi/kWh, resulting in a real-world range of 255 miles, which is below its 280-mile EPA rating. This lags behind competitors like the Cadillac Lyriq-V and Audi Q6 e-tron Prestige.
The vehicle boasts a minimalist, Scandinavian-inspired interior with a 15.4-inch touchscreen featuring intuitive software and ambient lighting. A standout feature is the expansive panoramic glass roof with electrochromic smart glass. Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and adaptive cruise control enhance the driving experience.
Despite its innovative features like the digital rearview mirror and impressive tech, the Polestar 4's efficiency and charging speed at home (1.99 mi/hr via Level 1) present challenges. The digital mirror's brightness and the required eye-focus adjustment can also be demanding for some drivers.
