Polar has introduced the Street X, a new fitness-focused smartwatch designed for urban athletes, priced at $250. This device aims to compete with offerings from Garmin and Whoop by combining advanced features with a competitive price point and no mandatory subscription.
The Street X supports 170 different sports and activity types, including strength training and cycling, and is equipped with GPS and an optical heart rate monitor. It provides detailed sleep tracking and recovery metrics, such as heart rate variability and skin temperature, to help users optimize training and rest.
Durability is a key feature, with the Street X meeting the military standard MIL-STD-810H for resistance to shocks, extreme temperatures, humidity, and dust. It also boasts WR50 water resistance. Hardware includes a 1.28-inch AMOLED touchscreen with Gorilla Glass 3. The watch offers up to 10 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, and up to 43 hours with continuous GPS and heart rate tracking enabled.
Polar is positioning the Street X as a blend of urban readiness and ruggedness, capable of handling daily wear and tear. It is available starting today in black and snow white, with other color options expected in limited batches. Previous Polar smartwatches like the Vantage M started at $499, highlighting the Street X's more accessible price point.
