Google's Pixel Watch Gets Smarter: New Hand Gestures Arrive

Google is significantly upgrading the user experience on its Pixel Watches by introducing advanced gesture controls. Building on earlier features like 'Raise to Talk,' new capabilities such as 'double pinch' and 'wrist turn' are being rolled out. The 'double pinch' gesture allows users to answer or end calls, control timers, snooze alarms, and operate the camera shutter with a simple thumb and forefinger tap.

Complementing this, the 'wrist turn' gesture offers a convenient method for dismissing incoming phone calls without direct interaction. These intuitive controls will be accessible within the watch's settings menu, where users can enable or disable them and access tutorials. Google is also implementing "smarter smart replies" for the Pixel Watch 3 and 4, promising faster responses and improved battery efficiency.

These new features are designed to enhance the overall usability and responsiveness of the Pixel Watch, aiming to provide a more seamless interaction. Google states that the enhanced smart replies have demonstrated superior quality in user studies. The company has indicated that these updates are scheduled for release just in time for the holiday season, although a specific launch date has not yet been announced.
