The Google Pixel Watch 5 has been unveiled, arriving in stores on August 20 and available for preorder now. This new model aims to compete directly with Samsung's Galaxy Watch 9 and Apple's Watch Series 11.
The Pixel Watch 5 features a refined design similar to its predecessor but includes a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor, offering a 12x boost in CPU speeds. GPS accuracy has also been improved, providing more precise location tracking in urban environments.
Key software additions include more proactive Gemini AI assistance, which can offer glanceable suggestions for tasks like flight details or bus routes. Basic Gemini functions will also be available offline.
The Health Guardian suite introduces new health monitoring capabilities, such as Blood Pressure Trends and Insulin Resistance Trends, which passively collect data to offer lifestyle and nutritional advice. Breathing Emergency Detection is also included, with the caveat that FDA clearance is pending.
Pricing for the Pixel Watch 5 starts at $399 for the 41mm model and $429 for the 45mm model, a $50 increase from the previous generation. LTE connectivity adds an additional $100. A Stephen Curry Special Edition is also available for $579.99.
