Pixel vs Samsung: Camera Clash!
2 Oct
Summary
- Pixel favors neutral tones; Samsung opts for vibrant colors.
- Samsung excels in cloud detail, while Pixel struggles with blown-out highlights.
- For moon shots, Samsung's camera captures superior detail.
A comparison of the Google Pixel 11 Pro XL and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra cameras was conducted during a recent trip to Cape May. The Pixel 11 Pro XL consistently captured more neutral, realistic tones in its ultrawide shots, while the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra leaned towards more vibrant and saturated colors. However, Samsung's camera excelled in capturing the intricate details of clouds, an area where the Pixel's images appeared overexposed.
In telephoto comparisons, both phones offered good quality, but the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra provided sharper details and better contrast, especially when zooming in on subjects. The Pixel produced a warmer portrait mode with more background blur, but Samsung's image isolation was more defined, albeit sometimes overly sharp. For main camera shots, Samsung showcased impressive sharpness and contrast, particularly in dim lighting.
When it came to moon photography, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra was deemed superior due to its ability to capture more surface clarity and accurate textures. The Pixel's zoom produced a brighter image but lacked the detail of Samsung's output. Both devices utilize AI for enhancements, a feature that has drawn scrutiny in the past.
Ultimately, the better camera phone depends on individual preference. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is generally considered the more capable option, especially for those who prefer social-ready images with added saturation and sharpness. The Pixel 11 Pro XL offers features like Camera Looks for real-time filter adjustments. Both devices represent excellent choices for mobile photography.
