Pixel Phones Get AirDrop Magic
18 Feb
Summary
- Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 now support AirDrop file transfers.
- Pixel 9A models are excluded from this AirDrop functionality.
- Google aims to expand Quick Share to more Android devices.
Google's Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series phones have maintained AirDrop compatibility since its introduction late last year. This feature enables Pixel users to send and receive files with Apple devices like iPhones, Macs, and iPads. Files transferred from a Pixel will appear as standard AirDrop transfers, managed via Quick Share on the Android side.
To utilize this cross-platform sharing, both the Pixel and the receiving Apple device must be discoverable. Users can set a ten-minute limit for discoverability. Notably, the Pixel 9A model is excluded from this AirDrop functionality. Google has indicated plans to enhance and broaden this experience to additional Android devices in the future.
