19 Feb
Summary
- Pixel 10a features a flat back and smaller screen bezels.
- New Pixel 10a includes emergency SOS via satellite connectivity.
- Pixel 10a boasts a brighter display and faster wired charging.
The Pixel 10a and 9a share a nearly identical design, but the 10a introduces subtle yet significant enhancements. It boasts a completely flat rear panel, a 10% reduction in screen bezels compared to its predecessor, and is protected by the more durable Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The new device introduces a critical safety feature: emergency SOS via satellite, allowing users to send distress messages when outside cellular coverage.
The Pixel 10a also edges out the 9a in display brightness, reaching 3,000 nits compared to 2,700 nits. While both phones use the same Tensor G4 processor and 8GB of RAM, the 10a offers faster wired charging, increasing from 23W to 30W, and faster wireless charging from 7.5W to 10W.
Camera hardware remains unchanged between the two models, both featuring a 48MP main sensor and 13MP ultra-wide lens. However, the Pixel 10a includes AI-powered software features like Camera Coach and Automatic Best Take, giving it an advantage in photo editing capabilities.
