Pinterest has unveiled 'Ask Pinterest,' an experimental, standalone application exploring a conversational AI approach to shopping and product discovery. The 'Ask Pinterest' app can handle complex queries, such as planning a dinner party or furnishing a room, and leverages users' saved Pins and Boards. The company plans to use insights from this app to build future AI-powered experiences for its main platform.
Alongside the consumer-facing app, Pinterest announced several AI updates for marketers. These include a beta AI assistant in Ads Manager, the Performance+ creative AI model for ad optimization, and the MCP infrastructure layer for standardized campaign management with third-party tools.
Pinterest's Chief Business Officer, Lee Brown, stated that future discovery will be driven by context, taste, and trusted recommendations, an area where Pinterest sees a unique advantage.
