Palo Alto Networks has issued a critical security advisory for a high-severity vulnerability in its GlobalProtect Gateway and Portal components. The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-0227, carries a severity score of 7.7 out of 10 and enables unauthenticated attackers to initiate denial-of-service attacks.
Exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to firewalls entering a maintenance mode, disrupting services. While Palo Alto Networks' Cloud Next-Generation Firewall is not impacted, there are currently no workarounds to mitigate the threat. The company strongly advises immediate application of the provided patch.
Palo Alto Networks has confirmed that upgrades for affected Prisma Access customers are nearly complete. Although there is no evidence of the vulnerability being exploited in the wild to date, prompt patching is essential to safeguard network security.
