Osprey has introduced Osprey Go, a new application designed to streamline the electric vehicle charging experience. This system utilizes Autocharge technology for automatic payment authentication, meaning drivers no longer need to manage various apps or physical payment methods. The software is powered by Osprey's in-house Iris platform, which also manages dynamic pricing for charging sessions.
After an initial setup within the Osprey Go app, which involves registering billing details and completing two charging sessions, the system automatically identifies compatible vehicles. Drivers can then simply plug in their vehicle, and charging will commence without any further interaction. The platform aims to offer the best available charging rates based on location and time of day, potentially providing cost savings during off-peak periods.
This advancement offers significant convenience for EV users, though it is currently limited to Osprey's charging network. While similar to Plug & Charge technology, Osprey's solution operates independently, broadening its compatibility. The company has indicated plans to integrate Plug & Charge capability in the future, further enhancing its automated payment system for a wider range of electric vehicles.
