Apple has officially designated the original iPhone SE as an obsolete product. This change, effective December 1, 2025, means the popular compact smartphone will no longer receive repair services or battery replacements from Apple or its authorized service providers. The device was originally launched in 2016, offering iPhone 6s features in a smaller form factor.
Products typically enter Apple's 'vintage' list five years after they are no longer sold, granting limited repair options. Two years later, they are classified as obsolete. The original iPhone SE ceased sales in September 2018, making its obsolete status follow a seven-year timeline. This marks a significant milestone for a device that was the last from Apple with a 4-inch display.
Several other Apple products have also been added to the obsolete list this year. These include the Apple Watch Series 1, the 2015 MacBook Air 11-inch, and the 2017 MacBook Pro 15-inch. Additionally, second-generation AirPort networking devices are now considered obsolete, signaling the end of support for these older hardware models.
