Foldable Screens: The Crease is Finally Gone?
26 Jul
Summary
- Oppo Find N6 eliminates almost all visible screen crease.
- Samsung's Z Fold 8 Ultra boasts thinner, flatter displays.
- Foldable phone prices remain a significant barrier to entry.

Oppo's Find N6, launched in March 2026, has significantly addressed the persistent screen crease issue plaguing foldable phones. While not entirely gone, the crease on its 8.12-inch display is virtually unnoticeable to the touch, marking a major leap forward. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra also features its new Flex Titanium display, reducing the crease's appearance and making it less apparent than on previous models.
Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and offer comparable screen sizes. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is thinner, lighter, and more widely available globally. It also boasts a brighter display and Samsung's AI features. The Oppo Find N6 offers superior camera hardware and a larger battery with faster charging but is limited to select Asian markets.
Despite these innovations, the high cost remains a significant barrier. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at a steep $2,099.99, making it Samsung's most expensive foldable. This premium pricing strategy highlights that the next frontier for foldables, beyond display technology, is affordability, with a target price below $1,200 needed to truly open the market.
