Opera has introduced its new AI-powered web browser, Neon, making it available to the public for a $19.90 monthly subscription. This pricing reflects the inclusion of advanced AI technologies like Gemini 3 Pro and GPT 5.1, distinguishing it from typically free browser software.

The browser is equipped with four distinct AI agents designed for various tasks: a conversational chatbot, an agent for internet navigation and task completion, a creation studio for generating code and media, and a deep-research agent for structured reports. It also allows for multitasking and user-defined workflow prompts.

Despite its advanced features, security experts and national cybersecurity agencies are issuing stern warnings. Concerns include the potential for indirect prompt injections, a novel attack vector unique to AI agents, which could compromise user data and lead to unauthorized actions. While Opera has addressed a known vulnerability, the broader risks associated with AI browsers remain a significant concern.
