- Sponsored Agents allow users to chat with advertisers via AI.
- New Ads Manager plugin streamlines campaign creation and optimization.
- HubSpot and Shopify partner with OpenAI for CRM and e-commerce integration.
OpenAI has introduced a test of its new "Sponsored Agents" feature, enabling users to engage in conversations with AI agents representing advertisers after clicking on ads within ChatGPT. This initiative aims to deepen OpenAI's involvement in the advertising sector.
The Sponsored Agents feature allows users who click an advertisement to initiate a dialogue with an AI agent associated with that specific advertiser. For instance, a user interested in a product could ask an AI agent detailed questions before being directed to the business's website. OpenAI emphasizes that these interactions will be clearly marked and distinct from regular ChatGPT conversations.
Alongside Sponsored Agents, OpenAI launched an Ads Manager plugin. This tool empowers advertisers to create, modify, and monitor campaigns using simple, plain-language commands. It can suggest ad copy, headlines, and visuals by drawing from an advertiser's landing page and campaign objectives. An optional AI text-customization feature can adapt ad copy for conversational flow and translate it into a user's preferred language.
OpenAI has also established strategic partnerships. HubSpot is now OpenAI's first customer relationship management partner, and Shopify is its first e-commerce partner. These collaborations allow businesses using HubSpot to connect their ChatGPT Ads accounts for campaign management and lead follow-up. Shopify merchants in the U.S. can access a new ChatGPT Ads app, with plans for a broader international rollout starting September 23.
