Samsung has commenced the stable distribution of its One UI 9 software update, built upon Android 17. This release follows an extensive period of beta testing and is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S26 smartphone lineup. The update is anticipated to become available for a broader range of Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the near future.
One UI 9 was first unveiled alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 series in July. Key enhancements include new Galaxy AI capabilities, improved privacy controls, and upgraded camera functionalities. Notably, the update introduces Privacy Alerts, an on-device AI tool designed to detect potential privacy risks, such as unauthorized access to device permissions. Security Brief alerts for malware and apps from unknown sources are also included, alongside expanded Scam Detection features.
While Samsung has not provided a detailed rollout schedule for all devices, a footnote accompanying the Privacy Alerts feature lists several models slated to receive the update. These include various Galaxy S25, S24, and S23 series phones, along with Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models from generations 7 down to 5, and several Galaxy Tab S11, S10, and S9 series tablets. Samsung has also integrated further AI advancements with features like Now Nudge, Creative Studio, Interpreter, and improved Document Scan and Voice Recorder functionalities.
