Dutch telecommunications giant Odido confirmed it was the victim of a cyberattack that compromised customer data. The incident, which has been contained by the company, did not result in the theft of passwords, call records, or invoice data, according to a statement released on Thursday.
Odido, serving approximately 8 million customers, reported the breach to the Authority for Personal Data. Due to the significant number of affected individuals, the company anticipates notifying customers within the next 48 hours.
This event occurs amidst heightened concerns over cyber threats targeting telecommunications firms, which hold vast amounts of personal information. The European Commission also recently reported a potential cyberattack on its central mobile infrastructure.
