Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang revealed significant advancements in AI hardware during a recent keynote. The company announced its inaugural Language Processing Unit (LPU), a novel chip designed to specifically enhance AI language tasks. This LPU technology was integrated following Nvidia's substantial $20 billion acquisition of chip startup Groq in December, marking the company's largest-ever purchase.
Further enhancing its AI infrastructure, Nvidia also presented a rack populated entirely with its newest central processing units (CPUs). This move addresses the increasing demand for general-purpose computing power in agentic AI, a growing area where CPUs are seen as crucial to avoid future performance limitations. The company also introduced NemoClaw, an enterprise software solution built upon its autonomous AI agent platform.
