RTX 5050 Refresh: More VRAM, Faster Speed Leaked
10 Mar
Summary
- RTX 5050 refresh rumored to feature 9GB of GDDR7 VRAM at 28Gbps.
- New GB206-150 GPU, same CUDA cores, and 130W TDP expected.
- 92-bit bus offers 336 GBps bandwidth, a slight increase over original.

Rumored specifications for a refreshed Nvidia GeForce RTX 5050 have surfaced, hinting at an upgrade in memory capacity and speed. The most significant change reported is the inclusion of 9GB of GDDR7 VRAM, an increase from the original RTX 5050's 8GB. This newer memory is expected to operate at 28Gbps, a considerable boost from the previous 20Gbps GDDR6.
The refreshed card will reportedly utilize a new GPU, the GB206-150, though it is expected to retain the same 2,560 CUDA cores and a 130W TDP. Despite a narrowed 92-bit memory bus, the memory bandwidth is projected to reach 336 GBps, slightly surpassing the original's 320 GBps. This provides a marginal increase in bandwidth and overall memory capacity.
While these upgrades may not drastically alter real-world gaming performance, the additional gigabyte of VRAM could help mitigate bottlenecks in newer titles. It may also enable the card to handle higher settings in demanding AAA games, especially when paired with upscaling technologies. As of 2026, the RTX 5050 remains Nvidia's most affordable GPU option in its generation, with its value proposition dependent on its price relative to competitors like AMD's RX 7600 and Intel's Arc B580.
