Nvidia RTX 3060 Revival: A 2026 Comeback?
9 Mar
Summary
- Nvidia is reportedly reviving the RTX 3060 GPU for 2026.
- Samsung is restarting an 8nm fabrication line for the card's silicon.
- Price will be crucial for the RTX 3060's renewed success in 2026.

Nvidia is reportedly reviving the RTX 3060, a GPU from the previous generation, with production set to ramp up soon and the card expected to be available in 2026. Samsung has restarted its 8nm fabrication line to produce the necessary silicon for these cards. This revival is occurring amidst significant shortages impacting the broader GPU market, largely due to AI buildout demands.
The RTX 30 generation utilized 8nm silicon, distinct from the more advanced nodes used in newer RTX 50 series cards. This allows Nvidia to leverage a different production partner and line, leaving cutting-edge facilities for the latest models. The success of the RTX 3060's return in 2026 will hinge on its price point, needing to be significantly competitive with newer, albeit more expensive, options.
Two versions of the RTX 3060 previously existed: one with 12GB VRAM and a 192-bit bus, and a less capable 8GB version with a 128-bit bus. Given the increasing VRAM demands of modern games, the 12GB version would be the more viable option for a 2026 release. Anticipation is high for its mid-March debut, with pricing potentially around $200-$250.
