Nvidia CEO: India's AI Future is Now

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has called on India to expedite its artificial intelligence (AI) development, highlighting the country's significant IT industry as a strong foundation for a national AI economy.

Huang noted that AI is advancing rapidly, necessitating faster action from all nations to capitalize on its growth. He recalled an earlier conversation with Prime Minister Modi, who had recognized AI's potential approximately ten years prior, indicating early foresight.

The tech leader emphasized that India's established IT sector positions it well for AI's ascendance as the next major technological shift. He encouraged Indian companies and startups to not only adopt AI but also to actively shape its future and build businesses around it.

Huang also addressed AI regulation, advocating for a focus on addressing practical and actual harm rather than theoretical concerns. He drew an analogy to automotive safety, suggesting that risks in AI should be managed through technological advancements and continuous improvement, not by halting progress.

He pointed out the significant improvements in AI systems over recent years, with models becoming more reliable and less prone to errors. Huang stressed that safety must be an integral part of AI development, not an afterthought, as companies pursue more powerful technologies.
