Renault Clio Matures: Hybrid Power, UK Delay
16 Dec, 2025
Summary
- The new sixth-generation Renault Clio arrives in the UK in early 2027.
- It features a hybrid powertrain with a 1.8-litre engine producing 160hp.
- Advanced safety features include adaptive cruise control and emergency braking.

The Renault Clio has undergone a significant transformation, evolving from its youthful origins into a more mature and polished vehicle with its sixth generation. This redesigned model features a more aggressive styling, an upscale interior with a 10.1-inch dual screen, and advanced safety aids, offering a stark contrast to its predecessors.
The new Clio is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol-electric hybrid system generating 160hp, coupled with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. This powertrain promises impressive fuel efficiency of 72mpg and a range of 620 miles. While continental Europe will see the new Clio in early 2025, UK customers must await early 2027 for the right-hand drive versions, due to regulatory considerations.
Pricing is expected to range from just under £20,000 to about £30,000. Alongside the hybrid, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine option will be available. Despite its maturity, Renault has not ruled out sportier 'RS' versions in the future, suggesting further performance enhancements are on the horizon.
