The AI Impact Summit 2026, held in New Delhi on February 18-19, concluded with the adoption of the 'New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact.' This landmark declaration has garnered endorsements from 88 countries and international organizations, signifying a broad global consensus on harnessing artificial intelligence for economic growth and societal well-being.
Guided by the principle of 'Welfare for all, Happiness for all,' the declaration underscores the imperative of equitably distributing AI's advantages. It emphasizes enhanced international collaboration and multi-stakeholder involvement, respecting national sovereignty while promoting AI development through accessible and trustworthy frameworks.
The declaration is built upon seven foundational pillars for global AI cooperation. These include democratizing AI resources, fostering economic growth and social good, ensuring secure and trusted AI, advancing AI for science, promoting access for social empowerment, developing human capital, and building resilient, efficient, and innovative AI systems.
Initiatives stemming from the summit include a Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI for affordable resource access and local innovation, a Global AI Impact Commons for scaling AI use cases, and a Trusted AI Commons for best practices in secure AI systems.
Furthermore, an international network of AI for Science institutions aims to boost global scientific collaboration. An AI for Social Empowerment platform will facilitate knowledge exchange for equitable AI adoption, complemented by an AI workforce development playbook and guiding principles for resilient, energy-efficient AI infrastructure.
