Google's latest wired Nest Doorbell boasts a compact design, slightly smaller than its battery-powered predecessor, measuring 5.1 by 1.6 by 1.0 inches. Available in Hazel, Linen, or Snow, its IP65-rated enclosure houses a microphone, status LED, and a doorbell button with an LED ring that signals activity. This wired model requires a 16-24VAC doorbell transformer and includes a chime connector for integration with existing systems.
The doorbell captures video in sharp 2K HDR resolution, featuring a 166-degree diagonal field of view and a 1:1 aspect ratio for a complete head-to-toe perspective. It utilizes six IR LEDs for clear black and white night vision and captures color video even in low-light conditions. Connectivity is handled via dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, integrating seamlessly with the Google Home app and supporting Google and Alexa voice commands.
Enhancing its functionality, the doorbell incorporates Gemini AI features, mirroring those in Nest's latest cameras. These include intelligent event notifications that specify the cause of recording and Google's unique 'Ask Home' feature for searching specific video events, such as package deliveries. Users can also access a daily summary of captured events, providing a comprehensive overview of doorstep activity.
