Canadian company Envo has launched Modular-EV, a sub-brand focused on its innovative Utility Personal Transporter (UPT). This electric platform is designed for extreme modularity, capable of transforming into nearly 20 different vehicles, including golf carts, ATVs, and last-mile delivery rigs. The UPT achieves this versatility through an aluminum T-slot Base Block chassis, allowing components like suspension and motors to bolt on without welding.
Powering the UPT are independent hub motors at each wheel, offering precise torque control and zero-radius turns. Buyers can select battery configurations for a range of up to 125 miles, with swappable and user-serviceable battery packs. Users can further customize their UPT by choosing various tires, steering options, seating, and body modules.
Modular-EV offers the platform as a bare chassis starting around $9,000, with preset configurations ranging from $10,000 to $12,000. While not highway-capable, its top speed is around 40 mph. The company envisions the UPT replacing multiple single-purpose vehicles, appealing to both commercial fleets, with a partnership with Faction for autonomous capabilities, and individuals managing large properties.
